What's not to like about a sport that combines horses, horsemanship, dance and gymnastics?! Koot-Neigh offers a variety of classes from one to one to groups of six. The horse, coach/lunger and vaulter work as a team and participants are encouraged to progress at their own speed. Vaulters start out with the most basic moves at walk and progress through levels of difficulty before moving on to trot and canter. Coaches ensure key safety skills are taught including approaches and safe unscheduled dismounts.
Classes include grooming the horses and getting them ready, vaulting time on the barrel and horse, supporting teammates, dry-land exercises and untacking. Prices start at $110/mo or $30 for drop-in.

TINY TOTS
Tiny Tots was created to support younger participants who need more supervision and a shorter class. We start out with basic guidelines and safety rules, and then move onto having a lot of fun with time on the horse, games, skills drills and barrel work - the class is 1.5hrs from getting the horses ready to giving them treats after untacking. An adult is requested to stay for the duration of the class in case the vaulter needs support outside of class parameters. Often this person gets involved with vaulting related drills on the sidelines.

RECREATIONAL
Recreational vaulting is a moderate and economical way for participants to learn and grow from the activity. The 2.25hr practices are kept fun and vaulters benefit from active learning in a relaxed environment. Students are involved in preparing the horse, warming up, practicing on barrels & horse, stretching and supporting their team mates. Basic moves are taught, and progress is individual and celebrated. Coaches build skills in many areas including fitness, team-work & horsemanship while working on personal goals such as confidence, creativity
and work ethic.
Parents are welcome to stay and watch, or drop-off.
We have a number of classes to choose from in the outdoor season May-September, and two during the indoor season
October-April. Contact us early to arrange a complimentary session to see if the fit is right for you!

COMPETITIVE
Once a vaulter is serious and focused on improving, we increase expectations with coaching, dry-land training and clinics. Vaulters are encouraged to do activities outside of class to benefit their sport creatively and athletically, vault more than once a week and acquire their own barrel. Clinicians come to Nelson and we head to them approximately three times a year . We work closely with vaulters to plan their season
and build for success with specific goals tailored to the individual. Our upper level horses are trained alongside and with their help.

Thanks so much for your insight about what Alyssa needed to be successful and creating such a therapeutic environment for children who find group settings challenging. We saw all kinds of improvements with Alyssa socially and her self confidence is much higher because of it. If not for vaulting I'm not sure she would have developed the confidence to try something as interactive as soccer as soon as she did. Vaulting, and your coaching style, was definitely the right first step into team sports for such a shy child.

Our daughter loved her experience vaulting with Naomi & Korynn at Koot-Neigh. They have really created such a lovely supportive team environment that was the perfect balance of fun and challenge.

I have two children with Koot-Neigh who require very different teaching methods. Naomi & Korynn have created a safe learning environment that provides children with the opportunity to grow and develop, based on individual needs while learning to work in a group environment. The positive environment provides children with the chance to learn responsibility and respect by being directly involved with the care and attention necessary for the horses; this creates a therapeutic environment that's beneficial to anyone who is fortunate enough to be involved in such and experience.
